Addictions can enslave individuals, often wreaking havoc on their lives and the lives of their loved ones. This growing issue in our modern world poses significant challenges, as traditional rehabilitation programs struggle with low success rates, hovering around 1%. Many individuals cycle through treatments, often referred to as "swing-door patients," facing repeated relapses.
As a former "swing-door patient" and severe substance abuser, I am well-acquainted with the spectrum of rehabilitation approaches, from traditional 12-step programs to religious and psychiatric methods. Unfortunately, none of these options worked for me or anyone I knew. I believed it was impossible for me to overcome addiction—until I was introduced to ayahuasca, which I had never heard of before. Initially drawn in by the promise of a "high," I became curious.
Ayahuasca ultimately taught me to love myself and become my own best friend. This transformative realization steered my self-destructive behavior toward healthier, more positive choices. Lifelong addicts, especially those who began using substances at a young age, often mature into emotionally stunted adults who avoid responsibility. Ayahuasca serves as an extraordinary tool for mental growth, helping individuals transition into adulthood and embrace accountability. I liken drinking ayahuasca to sipping wisdom from a bottle—a personal psychologist and a direct connection to one's heart and true self.
Over the years, I have invited many individuals struggling with addiction to experience ayahuasca, yielding remarkable results. I have yet to encounter any rehabilitation method with success rates that compare to professional ayahuasca-assisted therapy. It has been nearly ten years since I broke free from the invisible chains of addiction. During this time, I obtained a master's degree in pharmacy and worked at a rehabilitation center in Norway. It’s important to acknowledge that while ayahuasca can be transformative, no rehabilitation process comes with guaranteed results.
